Electro-Optic Sensor for Measuring Electrostatic Fields in the Frequency Domain

Precise measurements of electrostatic fields in harsh environments are required ranging from particle accelerators to industrial installations. Many techniques disrupt the field distribution due presence conductors. We present a fully dielectric sensor for very environmental conditions, that exploits Pockels effect manifested by electro-optic crystals. This system is designed allow DC be performed frequency domain. The paper discusses an analytical model and simulations system, validated with experimental results. working principle measurement technique explained detail along known limitations possible solutions further increase performance.
